Surely, you’ve heard about the activities of the SEG-Way (Social Engagement Gaggle)!  We are sharing an update and tooting the B’Chavana horn (just a little bit). Since we launched in October, we’ve accomplished the following:

WINGS – we donated 14 full bags of coats and hats for winter use.

BERNIE’S BOOKS – we donated c. 200 books and helped to sort 2,000 so that they can be on their way to children aged 4 – early teens, who otherwise would not have books in their homes.

UNITED CHURCH OF ROGERS PARK, 16 of us volunteered to feed 65 people (including several elementary school age kids) who are hungry and/or homeless.
SCHOOL DISTRICT 28 – gifts were purchased and delivered to a dozen families that would otherwise have none for the holiday season.

KNIT HAPPENS – our once-monthly knitting/crocheting gathering produces handmade hats and scarves that are then donated to people in need, such as…

Also, several B’Chavana members volunteer a couple times each month at PADS.  This is an organization that feeds and provides a place to sleep.  Kingswood Church in Buffalo Grove is where our members volunteer.

Looking into the future . . . Jan Swimmer is planning our next time to volunteer and serve at United Church of Rogers Park / Community Feast.

We bet that you have ideas and activities where we could volunteer or give our time.

What is your great charity or activity idea?  Please talk to Gail, Chris, Beth, or Jane G. so they can help you bring your idea to the congregation – and our help to people who need it.
