First, heartfelt thanks to Robin and Stew for welcoming us into their home to hear from Lonnie Nasatir, Regional Director of the ADL, as he discussed the state of anti-Semitism and racism in our country in the wake of the campaign and election. His words were both cautionary and encouraging as he described the important and effective work that the ADL has done over its 104 years and will continue to do.  Having loaded Gail Wright’s car full with household goods (as well as a sled, for a real Chicago welcome) we finished the morning fashioning no-sew blankets for the Iraqi family that soon will arrive to reestablish itself in Chicago.

Next Sunday, 1.29.17, will be our first-ever Challah Bake!  THE LOCATION HAS CHANGED: Beth Rosen will host from 1-4:00: 654 Westgate Rd., Deerfield.  Beth’s phone: (847) 514-6146.

If you have not done so already, please RSVP to Jane Grossman at 847-754-6424 or email [email protected].

Participants should bring 2 bowls, a rolling pin, apron and cutting board. The ingredients include yeast, honey, flour, kosher salt, eggs, sugar and butter. You can each bring your own or text Rachel Levin (847-602-1549) with an ingredient that you want to share and she will let you know the amount.

Make sure that you have the following dates for February in your calendar; more to follow next week:

  • Kabbalat Shabbat, Feb. 3, 6:00, @ Levine – Sue Levin will teach us about the “3 Pillars of Judaism” and how they enable us to build a life of meaning and purpose.
