With great sadness I want to let you know of the death of Audrey Calderon, z”l, Shari Rangell’s mother. We had the fortune of sharing Shabbat with Shari and Mark just last weekend, joyful despite the fact that they had just lost a close friend.  Now comes this second loss and our hearts are with them. Here is the information that Mark has posted:

With a heavy heart, I’m sad to share the news that Shari’s mom, Audrey Gross Calderon, passed away yesterday. Shari and I took the red eye to NJ on Tuesday night after hearing that she was failing and had been admitted back to the hospital. Thankfully we were able to get there yesterday morning to spend a few hours with her before she passed away. She loved and was loved by everyone she met.

Funeral services be held tomorrow (Friday) morning at 9 am at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, NJ.  Burial will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetary, 130-04 Horace Harding Expressway, Flushing, NY, followed by shiva at the home of Shari’s uncle, Michael Gross, 28 Jean Place, Syosset, NY.  There will also be a shiva on Sat. evening at 6 pm at the home of our cousins Steven and Stephanie Pepper, 3 Kate Court, Marlboro, NJ.

Shari has asked that anyone wishing to make a memorial donation in her mom’s memory may do so to either of the following places that hold special meaning in our lives:

Our family is hugely grateful for all the wonderful wishes and support that everyone has provided. We love you all.

Though they’ve moved their physical home to Las Vegas, B’Chavana remains Shari and Mark’s spiritual home.  Their legacy as founders of our community remains immeasurable, ranging from their spiritual contributions to their more practical ones, and infuse every gathering that we have.  Though they are far across the country, they remain dear to us, and our love and prayers travel with them.

Please feel free to post comments below for Shari and Mark to read.
