After a most informative and engaging learning experience from Jessica Schaffer, Director of HIAS, Chicago we are now a little more privy to some of what is most needed and wanted to welcome the Iraqi family of five that is soon to resettle in our midst.
We have heard your wishes to expand our HIAS Perfect Potluck (Perfect Potluck for Immigrant Family) and will continue to add more items over the next 2 weeks in preparation for their arrival. Please check the list often and choose to donate over the next 2 weeks if it is in your heart to help make this an easier transition. Whether it is a cash donation sent to Gail or checking off another item on our list, please know that every single donation is an important step for a family that is imminently ready for a new chapter in their lives.
Jessica, Gail and Jane cannot thank you enough for your outpouring of concern and generosity that has begun to turn despair into hope and shed fear with an embrace.
At our morning program on Jan 22nd we will collect all donations at the Campbell home (304 Chateau Dr., Buffalo Grove). If you are unable to attend, you can call either Gail (847-612-7387) or Jane (847-754-6424) to arrange a drop off to either of them prior to Jan 22nd.
On that same day we will be creating a “no sew” fleece throw for each member of the family. No skill needed. Just your hands and willingness as we create a blanket for each person.
